THE Agathodaemon AND THE aGATHOTYCHE
The Agathodaemon was the Greek spirit and protector of the vineyard. in ancient greece, He was originally represented as a serpent with a man's face. Centuries later he was anthropomorphised as a young man carrying a cornucopia and a staff or rod with two snakes wrapped around it with heads at the top called the Kerykeion. the snake heads represent the AGathodaemon and Agathotyche and when facing each other make an outline of the EARLY CRESCENT moon. This symbolization of the crescent moon made the second day of the Greek calendar month the most important day of the month. AGATHOTYCHE was THE GODDESS OF GOOD FORTUNE AND PROTECTOR OF CITIES. When people would meet for a "symposium," they would spill a little wine as an offering to the agathodaemon as a gesture to encourage a good harvest.
