THE Agathodaemon AND THE aGATHOTYCHE
The Agathodaemon was the Greek spirit of the vineyard. in ancient greece, He was originally represented as the dichotomy of sun and moon and ancient greek coins were created using this motif. Later he was depicted as the duality of a lion and a serpent. Centuries later he was anthropomorphised as a young man carrying a cornucopia. HIS SPOUSE WAS AGATHOTYCHE, THE GODDESS OF GOOD FORTUNE AND PROTECTOR OF CITIES. When people would meet for a "symposium," they would spill a little wine as an offering to the agathodaemon as a gesture to encourage a good harvest later that year.
